About Us

As a teen, Tad owned two Chevelle SS396s and caused quite a stir in his Kansas hometown.

Sweet Sixteen: A Pair of Memorable Musclecar Legends

Tad Tyler was all of 16 when he fell in love with Chevrolet’s iconic 1969 Chevelle. When the car-loving teen hit the magic driving age, he went out and acquired not one but two examples of the legendary muscle car – both equipped with the street rumbling 396ci V8. He wasted no time logging many happy miles and all that seat time formed a lifelong love affair deep inside the enthusiast that he’s never forgotten.

Wanting to recreate the magic of the vintage classic, in 2017 the fabricator began the research and development for what would become the A69 Limited Edition. This modern interpretation is a reimagination of the 1969 Chevelle that nods to the storied past while pairing it with modern driving performance to give enthusiasts a future collectible to enjoy for years to come.

Today, Vision Retro’s headquarters is proudly located in the heartland of Topeka, Kansas. It’s not far from Kansas City and the site of the former General Motors Leeds Assembly Plant which built the now-iconic A-body Chevelle. Being so close to transportation relics and Tad’s decades-long affinity for the model is something the entire VRD team embraces. The 1969 Chevelle is a motoring legend and the reimagined A69 Limited Edition embraces and celebrates the rich history.

Our Story

Vision Retro debuted our first A69 Chevelle creation at the world’s largest collector car auction, Mecum’s Kissimmee auction. There under the Florida sun, our first Prototype (identified as PR1) was on display and available for close viewing by the hundreds of spectators that passed through the fairground gates. At the close of the auction, PR1 went across the block and sold, kickstarting Vision Retro Designs production run of A69 series Chevelle vehicles.
